Please join us for a webinar briefing on federal immigration policy developments expected in 2018, and their likely impact on our communities. While DACA and DREAM have been dominating headlines for weeks, some of the federal government's plans to increase the rate of detention and deportation have received little attention. The Center for Popular Democracy is hosting this webinar in partnership with Cities for Action, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, Local Progress, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, the National Immigration Law Center, and Welcoming America. Topics covered in the webinar will include:

  • What happened in 2017 -- challenges and some victories
  • The ramping up of border prosecutions and their expansion into the interior
  • I-9 audits and worksite immigration enforcement -- what employers can do to prepare and to defend their employees
  • Cooptation of local law enforcement -- the spread of 287(g) agreements, threats to sanctuary cities, and the new program being piloted in Florida to supposedly (but not really) get around the 4th Amendment problems with detainers
