During this panel discussion, speakers will present an overview of the recent Presidential Executive Orders and their possible effects on the legal rights of immigrant students and their parents in New York City. The panelists will  also discuss how school suspensions and criminal prosecutions may intersect with immigration law and provide an overview of the Department of Education’s policy on law enforcement action at City schools. At the end of the session, participants will learn techniques for effective representation of their clients in light of these federal policies, including best practices in communication with clients and criminal defense attorneys, and will become familiar with the DOE immigration guidance for NYC Schools.
